Lichfield Halloween Movies, Theater, and Entertainment 2026

Horror programming ramps in late September, hits full depth the second week of October, and peaks the final two weekends with marathons, shadow casts, and themed parties, and much of it vanishes November 1. The move: scan every local theater's October calendar in the last week of September, buy the sellout risks immediately, and pencil the rest. Miss the window and it's a year's wait.

A haunted theater show is a seated or guided performance, actors, script, staging, ghost stories, where nobody chases you; a haunted house is a walk-through designed to startle. Theater suits dates, mixed-scare-tolerance groups, and anyone who wants atmosphere without ambush. Check whether the show uses audience participation, and sit toward the back if being picked would ruin your night.

Mix tiers: one or two full-price event screenings you actually care about, then fill with discount weeknights, matinees, second-run houses, and free library or park screenings, which cluster in October. Theater subscription programs pay for themselves in three visits. Skip concessions at the filler screenings and splurge at the events, and track it all so the total stays a number you chose.
