It varies wildly: purpose-built indoor haunts often have step-free routes, while trails, barns, and hayride fields involve gravel, mud, stairs, and tight turns. Email or call ahead and ask specifically about surface type, pinch points, and whether a companion can walk the route first. Many haunts offer a daytime lights-on visit or a modified path if you arrange it in advance.

Buy online for the last two October weekends, when marquee haunts genuinely sell out timed slots by mid-afternoon; door sales that late mean the worst windows or none. Early October weeknights are safe for walk-ups and sometimes cheaper at the box office. Online buyers also skip a separate ticket line, which alone can save 30 minutes on peak nights.

Most full-intensity haunts recommend 12 or 13 and up, and some enforce a hard minimum with ID or a signed parent waiver. Extreme haunts are usually 18+.
